Boy oh Boy the Livingston parish fair! It was fun, wet, muddy, and still very popular, and had lots of activites from pagents, to pet shows, and lots and lots of rides. Will surely be back next year!

Itilian Festival

This was a wonderful celebration of the itialian culture. Great bands, food, and entertainment. There was 3 lindsay space walks, bubbles the clown and me to entertain the kids, and contest with prizes, wonderful vendor's, and wine tasting for the adults, and admission was free. Very fun event!

Cooper's 5th birthday celebration was in his Pre K-4 class at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church. They were so wonderful, and well behaved.

A group of wide-eyed children and teens stood at Evangeline Street and West Brookstown Drive on Tuesday watching what they thought was a fatal wreck caused by a drunken driver.“Is he dead,” some of the children asked about a teenager lying motionless on the hood of a silver Honda Civic. “Is this for real?”No, the crash was not real, Toddie Milstead told the children. But it is similar to what law enforcement and first responders see when they arrive at the scene of a real car crash, she said.Milstead and members of the West Baton Rouge Parish chapter of Students Against Destructive Decisions organized the mock crash to educate children and teens on the dangers of drinking and driving as well as the importance of wearing a seat belt.“We are trying to promote constructive decisions,” Milstead said. “We want to help educate youth and adults about the decisions children and teens are making.”About 65 youth between the ages of 10 and 16 witnessed the aftermath of the “crash” at 10 a.m. as part of Youth Summer Institute, a weeklong youth camp sponsored by Capital Area Human Services District.A fake 911 phone call piped into Greater Mount Canaan Baptist Church, where the camp is being held, alerting the camp participants to the crash.When they walked outside, the group of young people saw two cars that looked like they had crashed into each other in a field across the street from the church.Some members of West Baton Rouge’s SADD chapter, posing as drivers and passengers, were inside the cars and screaming for help.Rusty Young, 15, a Brusly High student, pretended to be dead while Rodney Carvin, 17, a Port Allen High student, acted like he was drunk and responsible for the wreck.Representatives from the Baton Rouge Police Department, Baton Rouge Fire Department, East Baton Rouge Parish Emergency Medical Services and the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office were there and did what they would have done if the crash had been real.Firefighters used the jaws of life to get people out of the cars. Paramedics treated people’s wounds. Police officers comforted bystanders and arrested Carvin for drinking and driving. And Coroner’s Office personnel loaded Young into a body bag.“It was very real looking,” said Anjellica Borris, an 11-year-old camp participant. “I kept wondering if it was, and got the message that you shouldn’t drink and drive.”April Fisher, the camp’s director, said the crash was a great teaching tool and meshed well with the camp’s focus, which is drug-, alcohol- and tobacco-abuse prevention.Permission slips were sent to parents about the event, Fisher added. None contacted her to say they didn’t want their child to witness the “crash.”Dorothy Young, who took off work to watch the scene with her 11-year-old son, said she wanted her child to see what happens when someone drinks and drives.“I want him to see what reality is,” she said.

This day I was asked to come for a glitter tattoo party. I didn't find out until later, that this day camp also had planned a surprise party for their lead counselor, Mr. Anderson. This is such a fun camp! and the campers were lots of fun, too!

This was there annual safty day held at the Louisiana State Police HQ off of independance. Here is what the director had to say:

Moulage

I had never liked blood, scary movies, or anything like that until my father in law invited me to help make his scenes at his Exxon EMT training more realistic. Boy, it's fun! The wikipedia definition for Moulage is:

Moulage (French: casting/moulding) is the art of applying mock injuries for the purpose of training Emergency Response Teams and other medical and military personnel. Moulage may be as simple as applying pre-made rubber or latex "wounds" to a healthy "patient's" limbs, chest, head, etc., or as complex as using complicated makeup and theatre techniques to provide elements of realism (such as blood, vomitus, open fractures, etc.) to the training simulation. The practice dates to at least the Renaissance, when wax figures were utilized for this purpose.

After a friend came over and we researched moulage, here is how the EMT training became more realistic!

Isabella's 2nd birthday party

Isabella "bella" was adorable! She and her guests had a wonderful time. Bella's mom invited Cole, my son, but he was so tired that he kept falling and hurting himself. Poor little guy. Bella had a blow up moom bounce, bubbles, provided by her favoriate face painter!, and a swing set that kept every one entertained!

Aleece and Bryson's 6th birthday party

This family came back both days at the Greenwell Springs Arts and Crafts fair to be painted. The kids are so much fun! Aleece had a Taylor Swift birthday cake, and Bryson had a Scooby Doo birthday cake.

2009 State Chili Cook Off

The State chili cook off (http://www.louisianachilicookoff.com/) is an annual event hosted at the LSU 4H mini barn. The Audubon Kiwanis Club of Baton Rouge and the Baton Head Injury Association are teaming up to put on the third annual Louisiana State Chili Cook-off.

LA Fete 2009

This was my first offical face painting class. I was only able to attend the Pre Day class. LaFete is a 4 day event that is held annually in New Orleans, hosted by Susan Peirce and Bethany (sp?) It was absolutely the best time of my LIFE! I can't wait to attend FABAIC (Face And Body Art International Convention) for a week in may in orlando, fl! I was

instructed by Pashur, Mark Reid, and Nick Wolfe. Then there was the jam afterwards. Oh and it was Nick's birthday which just so happened to be Friday the 13th, and of course they held a Zombie Walk. There were 40-50 of us limping, slithering, and meandering down the streets of New Orleans. It was the best!

GSBC Arts and Craft Fair

The 4th annual Greenwell Springs Baptist Church Art's and Craft Fair is to raise money for their youth for mission trips. There were so many people from the community that came out and supported these kids. It truely was amazing. I can't wait for next year!

Boy oh boy, If I ever have to move, I want to go to Mandeville. It was such a lovely town! I was invited by Mrs. Debbie of Scott's Wish (http://www.scottswish.org/) one of the four non profits hosting Mardi Paws (http://www.mardipaws.com/) There were so many CUTE dogs dressed to the T. Unfortuantly my hand always had a paint brush in it. I wish I would have taken more pictures. It was a great big turn out. Thank you Mrs. Debbie for inviting me! I enjoyed working with you!

Jayden's birthday party was so fun! Dawn, his mom, had a moon walk pizza and cake. I was there 2 hours and did not stop. Face Painting was so popular! Adults and kids all enjoyed the face painting! I woke Cole up from his nap so we could go to the party, and he looked at me and said, "Mom's an Octopus today?"

Walker Mardi Gras Parade

The Walker Mardi Gras Parade was held today Thursday Feb. 19th at 3:30 PM. I think because the parade was held at this time there were less people than other parades. It was still very fun. I made a few special friends. Little Madison loved catching the beads.

This was my first parade of many to come. It was a HUGE sucess. I never stopeped for 4 hours, and there was always a crowd. Young, and old, men and women love getting their faces painted to match the festivities that was going on. There were so many smiles. I even painting the Hooters girls!
